Cheerleading means team spirit, trust, precision – and above all: solidarity . Every person on the team counts. But sometimes unconscious thought patterns creep in that can unintentionally disrupt this cohesion. This doesn't happen with malicious intent; it often goes completely unnoticed. This is precisely what the term "bias" refers to.
But what exactly is that?
“Bias” (pronounced baɪəs ) is an English word and means something like:
👉 Unconscious bias
👉 Distorted perception
👉 Automatic thought patterns that are not always fair
These are prejudices that we often don’t even notice – because we have adopted them from our environment or have been trained to do so.
Bias can show up very quietly in everyday cheerleading – for example like this:
💪 You think that boys are more likely to be bases and girls are more likely to be flyers – although that is not always physically true.
🌈 You unconsciously wonder about male cheerleaders – because you only associate cheerleading with women.
You have less confidence in a person with a different skin color or figure – for no real reason.
🧠 You don't take someone with a quiet personality seriously when choosing the choreography - even though that person has great ideas.
These thoughts aren't intentionally mean—but they influence our behavior: Who gets what praise? Who gets to hold which position? Who gets overlooked?
Cheerleading is a team sport. Every position counts, every skill is valuable – regardless of gender, background, body shape, or temperament.
When we recognize our unconscious biases , we create space for true fairness, greater cohesion, and a stronger team culture.
Because: A diverse team is not a coincidence – it is a decision.
🗣️ Talk openly about the topic, including during training or team-building activities.
🔄 Reflect on role distribution: Who will be a flyer and how often, who will be a base, who will be allowed to help create choreographies?
🧠 Consciously think “against your first impulse” – have more confidence in quieter or atypical personalities!
❤️ Remember: Diversity is strength. A good cheer team thrives on diversity—not a uniform look.
"Bias" is not an accusation—it's an invitation to develop further. Anyone who wants to be strong in cheerleading needs not only physical strength, but also open eyes and an open heart .
Let's be a team where everyone is seen as they truly are – without prejudice. Because on the mat, one thing matters most: trust and teamwork .
How to stay fit, motivated and ready for your comeback
Summer break is here – no training, no choreographies, no countdowns... for now. 😎 But just because the team is taking a short break doesn't mean your motivation has to too!
Because right now is the perfect time to care for your body, recharge your batteries and develop yourself further – without any pressure, but with fun.
Here are our best tips for getting through the summer as a cheerleader – fit, healthy, and with plenty of team spirit in your heart.
Use the break to work on your general fitness without overexerting yourself:
Cardio made easy: jogging, cycling, inline skating or swimming – preferably outside, with the sun on your skin.
Strength training at home: Bodyweight workouts for legs, core, and shoulders – ideal for bases and backs.
Don't forget flexibility: Daily stretching or short yoga sessions are especially helpful for flyers – and are good for every body.
💡 Tip: Create a short weekly plan with 3-4 “Cheer & Chill” units – short, effective & easy to follow.
Cheerleading isn't just physically demanding—you also need mental focus, discipline, and motivation. Use the summer to build your mindset muscle :
Journaling: Write down what you learned in the last year – and what you want to achieve in the next.
Visualization: Imagine yourself clean-hitting your best stunt – your brain will train with you!
Relaxation: Treat yourself to conscious time out – for example, with meditation, breathing exercises, or simply a day without a to-do list.
Sure, the gym is missing—but cheer is more than just the mats! Here's how to stay connected during the break:
Team WhatsApp or Instagram challenges: Who can do the longest handstand? Who posts the coolest stretch?
Throwback time: Post your favorite training moments or stunt fails with humor – but be fair and don’t turn it into bullying!
TikTok Reels: Choreography exercises, lip syncs, or summer stunts – let's get creative!
💬 Or how about a little summer meet-up in the park or outdoor pool?
Now is the perfect time for skills that otherwise don’t have time in training:
Analyze tumbling videos
Stunt technique tutorials on YouTube
Learn cheerleading rules & vocabulary – especially for younger athletes or new team members
Or: Create your own little cheer journal with goals, exercises & ideas for the new training year
On the contrary: The summer break can be your secret power boost . No pressure, no competition – just you, your body, and your team spirit. Use the time to relax, discover, and develop while having fun.
Because one thing is certain:
The new season is coming. And you'll be ready. 📣💪
Cheerleading has long been much more: It is a sport that demands strength, precision, courage and absolute team spirit - and above all deserves one thing: diversity .
Mesh pants and a cropped shirt: These will not only keep you super cool this summer, but also keep you comfortably airy. The sporty look immediately makes it clear: you're an athlete.

We had a sound logo created. Jonathan Bourdick is a talented musician and music producer, whom we commissioned to create our so-called sound logo. First, we explained to him what "Mickey Mousing" in Cheer songs actually means, and that it needs to have a good oomph and a good beat... the first version was really cool, and you know what happened next? Jonathan asked if someone could sing our name over it – and no sooner said than done... the beautiful singing and whispering voice belongs to singer Theja. You should definitely listen to her music. Incidentally, all of the music was also produced by Jonathan (the two are actually a duo). Our favorite Theja song is " Down Into the Sea " – it has a funny fish noise that fits the song incredibly well. " Spain " is also cool... as is "The Silence "... Check it out! We've provided links to the song titles on Spotify.
If you own a company, you can't just use music on social media. That would be a copyright violation. The musicians would have to be asked or paid. Plus, there's always a certain usage period. So, it's all a bit more complicated. So now we have our own song. And we love it! What do you think?
